Brownersen's Garden 2012: First Harvest!

Derek's aunt Patti visited us this weekend, and it was a perfect chance for me to cut off some lettuce that I had been dying to chop. We got three large servings of lettuce and you could barely tell that I had cut any. It's definitely my favorite plant in the garden at this point! The tomatoes are store-bought; unfortunately it's possible that we won't have tomatoes and lettuce at the same time!! Bummer.

So here is the cut lettuce, pre-washing.

Our meal... pizza, asparagus, and salad.

One more of the salad, why not!?

Patti and Derek seem to be enjoying the freshest salad ever!

We had a great weekend! Besides harvesting lettuce from the garden, we took lots of walks (15.3 miles total, we saw the Wood Lake Nature Center in Richfield, the Stone Arch Bridge, walked through the U's campus, and various parks and neighborhoods). We also went antique shopping at 50th and Xerxes and walked to the Edina Art Fair (see photo below), went to Home Depot and other appliance stores (Derek and I are making preparations for remodeling the kitchen... maybe this blog will be a good venue for before and after pics?!?), and went to various eateries (including Edina Grill and Punch Pizza). After a relaxing long weekend, it makes getting back to work particularly difficult... bummer!
