Brownersen Garden 2012: Day 23

It's been another busy week for the garden! Although it's been a dry week, the plants have grown a lot, particularly the corn... it seems to double every week so far (which I guess is not so surprising if you consider how tall it will eventually be). We also have our first little tomato... pretty strange if you ask me (it's the earliest tomato, but still isn't supposed to have ripe tomatoes until the beginning of July). Derek took the photos this week, so they are a bit different but probably also better in general!

Here is the garden... getting greener!

Here is the sweet corn, which was 7.5" today, after being 3.75" last Thursday (10 days ago). Still has a long way to go, though!

Here are the tomatillos (from above this time)... lots of little flowers. This one is 19" tall now (15.75" last week)!

This is the Glacier tomato, the one that has decided to sprout a baby tomato a bit early! (Can you find it??) The Striped German (the one I have been measuring) is 18" tall, up from 13" 10 days ago!

Here is a view of the zucchini (upper left), cauliflower (center to lower right), and one of our 7 pepper plants (a hot variety, lower left). Most notably, the zucchini has grown from 6" to 10" (from beginning of stem to end of leaf).

Here is a view of the scallions (upper left), sweet potatoes (lower... kind of sad looking but hanging in there!), and the kale (upper right).

Here are 4 of the 6 lettuce plants, post cutting!

Here is the kale... might have to chop some of this soon!
